Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

01. How much will my kitchen cost?

At Seaside Cabinets we design to suit your budget. We work with you to understand your needs and then design a space and select materials that fit within your price range.

Things that can impact your budget include the type of stone you select, the number of drawers in your kitchen design, the door profiles and your choice of man made or natural finishes.

Remember, when planning your kitchen, the joinery is just one cost - you also need to budget for appliances, electrical and plumbing along with flooring.

02. When should I buy my appliances?

You will need to supply all your appliance and sink specifications on the final check and measure. We recommend you organise for all of your appliances to be on-site one week prior to your kitchen being installed. It is important that you check all your appliances when they arrive to ensure they are what you ordered.

If you are purchasing a new fridge please double check with us on the dimensions and depth of the fridge to make sure it fits your spaces.

03. Can I use my kitchen before my benchtop is installed?

Generally, no. The electrician and plumber will usually return to connect all appliances the day after your stone benchtop has been installed. You can stack items into cabinets that are below stone benchtops, but for cabinets with stone benchtops above them, it is wise to wait until your stone is installed before placing items into the cabinets.

04. How long does it take to get a kitchen made and installed?

The process of consultation, design, manufacture, and installation can take around 8-12 weeks and sometimes longer during busy periods.

Once the design and quote are finalised, we provide you with a contract and then start the construction.

The first stage in this process is a site check and measure where we head out to your site and double check all measurements before we build. We then begin manufacturing the cabinetry. Once manufacturing iscomplete, doors and end panels are sent off for painting if required.

Installation of a kitchen usually only takes a day or two however, it can take longer for more detailed jobs.

Stone and solid benchtops will be installed by Edstein Creative Stone, generally within a fortnight of the cabinets being installed.

05. When should I have my timber or tiled floor laid?

Floating timber floors and tiles cannot be laid under the cabinets and need to be laid after the kitchen is installed.

We highly recommend you avoid installing cabinets over flooring but If you can’t avoid this, we can come back and install the kickboards after the flooring is complete.  Please note this is an additional cost.

06. Why do I have to wait for a quote?

Often, we are booked out 3-4 months in advance, however, are often contacted by people who would like us to come and out and quote their job immediately.

As a small business with just a few people in our team, this is not always possible. We will do our best to get there sooner, however, we try not to quote too far in advance as the cost of materials can change quickly, and it’s important that you get a price closer to your start date.

07. Do you remove existing kitchens?

Yes.  We remove existing cabinetry from kitchens, laundries, and other parts of the house. As it’s hard to predict how long this will take, we charge removal of old cabinetry at an hourly rate.  We can also dispose of the cabinets if required for a fee.

08. Do you install the appliances?

No, we just check that they fit the space. When we install the cabinets, we will fit the appliances in however, after this, you will need a fully licensed and qualifies tradesperson to fit and connect the appliance .
